Musical Mondays

I know I haven't really been keeping up with my schedule like at all, but I'll randomly do it! How's that? Today I'm going to share with you one of the most heartbreaking songs ever. It's Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake: Finale. You might think that it's not that heartbreaking/emotional. Listen to it, and then tell me how heartbreaking it is.

*tears* *sob* I'm so crying now! The ending is so beautiful!!! With the strings and harps playing that wonderful chord progression!!! It's so amazing! And then right before that when the horns play the Swan Lake melody but major? It's so epic! Who knew Tchaikovsky could write something so deep?! I don't know about you, but I generally find Tchaikovsky to be light happy music that is easy to listen to. (Take his violin concerto for example) This is beyond epic. It is amazing! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! =) Have a great Monday!!! =D

Musical Mondays: Barber's Adagio for Strings

I had a crazy weekend that included a college visit, a cast party, and other random school junk and life stuff! I am totally blank today! This post might end up being really random... typical me! =)  So, I keep hoping that life will get less busy soon, I have a half marathon I'm running this weekend, so I won't be spending so much time training for that and I'll potentially have more time for writing blog posts? We can always hope! =D I've missed writing my blog so much!! I hope you've missed me too! ;) Anyway, I don't have all day to write this post so I'll get to the music now!

Today I'm sharing with you something very, very special.  Over the summer when he didn't have school my brother decided to record a piece of music. He spent hours working in his room, all summer long, to get the perfect result. He had so many setbacks and just plain frustrating moments, but he pulled through in the end, and before school started again in the fall he was able to release something very special, and this is it. A recording of one of the most epic pieces known to man. Barber's Adagio for Strings. I hope you enjoy it and have a great week!

Musical Mondays: The Spirit of Adventure

Someday, I won't be very busy and I'll be able to post three posts every week! That might be in 50 years, but I'll be ready for it! =)

Anyway, this lovely Monday morning I'm going to share a very sweet song with you from one of my favorite movies! Up! Such a cute movie! If you haven't seen it yet, you must! It's so good! I just love the soundtrack for it, so the other day when I was doing some writing work on my computer I decided to listen to the soundtrack. I (unfortunately) don't own it, so I had to get on YouTube and find it. I was listening to the playlist and then all the sudden at the end there was a song with a person singing!!! I was just floored! I'd never heard it before!!! I LOVED it!!! It  is such a cute song!!!! I hope you enjoy it!!!

"My spirit of adventure is youuuuuu!!: <3

Well, that's all for today!! I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!!!!!

Musical Monday's: The Secret Garden

As it is Musical Monday, I'm going to talk about music! =) "... happy thought indeed." One of the main reasons that I haven't *ahem* been posting as often as I should is because my sister and I volunteered with a theatre company in our area on a musical! I had hoped to sing in it, but when they had the auditions I had the most horrid head cold you ever heard of and I could not sing to save my life! 'Twas a pity though, I could have sung in it... Oh well! I played my violin in the pit and it was an enjoyable experience overall  (though, I won't lie, it definitely had it's stressful moments!) However, everyone pulled it together in the end and we had some very successful performances!!! Today though, I'm just going to mention a few of my favorite songs from the musical! (They won't be in chronological order they will mostly be in order, with the songs I love the most at the end! You know, save the best for last? =))

Hold On

I really like this song because it's basically Martha telling Mary that God is gonna help her get through this tough time. It's also a really neat song musically with interesting rhythms and f flats.... yeah... it was fun to play! =)  I really love how encouraging this song is!!

A Girl in the Valley

This song is just so sweet!! I love how they have Lily be a big part of the musical even though she's dead! This scene was so much fun to play in the musical because they had people waltzing on stage while we played it!!! It was fun to see the girls in their big dresses out of the corner of my eye! Plus it's just a really sweet song!!! =)

Where in the World

This song is intense!!! It's so passionate!!! I love how heartbreaking it is!!! I just melt every time I hear it!!!! =) At the end of this song in the musical he falls on his knees almost with a bang (but I don't think it was on purpose) but I never realized how close he really was and then I'd look up and I'd start! He was like right there!!!! It was so weird!!! but I love this song!

Lily's Eyes

*sigh* I don't think anything really needs to be said about this song. It really speaks for itself doesn't it? It was wonderful playing this, I cried almost every time, it was beautiful!

Well, I finished this post! Finally!!! And it's still Monday!!! =D Have a great night!

A Soundtrack

So earlier this week I was reading Casey's blog and she said that the 'seasons' soundtrack was the soundtrack for "How to Train Your Dragon". So since I hadn't listened to it yet, I listened to it! And guess what? I loved it!!! It's really good!! In fact, it's so good, I deemed it good enough to share! Haha! My favorite track from the soundtrack is "Test Drive". It has such soaring melody, I just love it! I hope you enjoy it too!

I have actually never seen this movie. Just listened to the soundtrack! :) I do that with a lot of movies...

Anyway, I have an exciting post coming up for in the next week or so! Be on the lookout!

Christmas Music!

I'm doing school, (obviously) and I decided that I was in the mood for Christmas music! So I hopped over to my brother's blog and I'm listening to everything!!! Well, almost everything! All my favorites that is... which might as well be everything!!!

I know, I know, you're thinking, "Christmas music? Is she serious? Christmas was 4 months ago!! Spring finally started and she's listening to Christmas music!! What is wrong with her?" Yeah, I know! There is nothing wrong with me!!! I'm super excited about Spring and all the trees budding and everything being green and beautiful!! I'm so excited to start working in the garden and mowing the lawn and weeding the flowerbeds!! But all this Christmas music is just amazing!!!! So I have to listen to it, and I don't care what you think!!! :) It's happy music!!! I mean really ♪"It's the most wonderful time of the year!"♪ I think this can be sung at the beginning of every season!! :) I hope you have a great week!!!

Not what you would expect

This is a song! (I promised you a song, but this isn't the same song.) This is a song that I don't know how to describe what it is. It's a CocaCola ad. I know, sounds like incredibly high quality amazing music doesn't it? But for some reason this music is in a way inspirational! It makes me want to go outside and run, run and accomplish things! Do something! Live life! Be awesome! How does it do that? I don't get it! It's like some cheesy CocaCola ad is inspirational? I don't know, but I do know that I can not stop listening to it. Michael is telling me how simple the chord structure is and we just can't figure out why it's so cool! It's must just be magical! Haha!!! I hope you enjoy it!!! (and the two posts today! :) I'm getting so good at blogging... not...)

Letters From War

I listened to this song for the first time about a year ago, when my sister had me listen to it! I cried when I heard it and I loved it!! It's such a good song, and I love listen to it. I hadn't listened to it in a few months and I listened to it again last night when I was waiting for Michael and Melissa to get home! I sobbed my heart out, and decided then and there that I would share it with you all today!

This is me, crying! I hope you like it!!! Have a great day!!! :D

my life is awesome

The title says it all!!!! My life is awesome!!! I got to perform "The Planets" this afternoon! I got to see my friends, and eat pizza from PizzaHut (thank you to the wonderful people that paid!!! I really enjoyed it!!) (and the pizza was amazing!! It's been so long since I've had PizzaHut pizza!) I also got to wear a beautiful black dress altered by my wonderful sister Melissa, who also did my hair! (and according to Rilla Blythe, it's always easier to be good if your clothes are nice! :))  Performing "The Planets" was an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life, there were so many 'moments' that happened to me when we were playing it. One was in Mars, at the end, I felt like I'd just fought a big battle and I was exhausted, which is exactly how it's supposed to sound! I think Mars was the best that we'd ever played it today!!! Another memorable moment was in Saturn at the part when the Clarinets come in, it's so beautifully heartbreaking!!! The final moment was when I realized that we only had four measures left of the whole thing! It was a very interesting moment, full of excitement and sadness. I was so happy that we made it through the movements that we were playing, but I also realized that depending on what I do with my life, this might be the last time I ever get to play these notes in an orchestra setting. I've spent my evening half tired, half depressed because that part of my life is over. However, a new chapter is opening tomorrow with this piece:

That's right! We are going to play "Rodeo" by Copland!!!! I'm super excited!!! I can not stop listening to it since I got home!!!!! I'll be sure to let everyone know how much I love it tomorrow after our first rehearsal! Speaking of, we get to sight read Copland, and eat pizza, and play Dutch Blitz!! Does life get any better than that?!?!

So there you have it, the reasons why my life is so awesome right now! :)

Only the Beginning of an Adventure

This is a song from the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe soundtrack. It's such a beautiful song! It brings such a variety of images to my mind. Of course I think scenes and aspects from the movie, but I also think of other things. First things first, here's the song:

Here is visually what I think of when I listen to this song:

What do you 'see' when you hear this song???
I love how it feels like the song takes you somewhere, you go on an adventure in the song itself! Yet, it is just the beginning of the adventure, where will it take you next?

The Phantom of the Opera

I don't even know where to begin with this post.  I could start with when I first remember Michael getting the music book from the library, or the first time I remember listening to the  first time.  Or when we bought the book for Michael, and playing and singing it with him.  According to Michael, it all started when I had to sing a solo song in a Christmas play that we did. We borrowed a cd that had the song that I was singing on it, but it also had a Phantom of the Opera song on it there. Because we heard the song on there we got the cd and the music book from the library.  However, this is one amazing musical written by Andrew Lloyd Weber.  Listening to it when you are home alone is just a recipe for singing as loudly and beautifully as you can!!  (and of course I sound just wonderful when I sing it!!!! :)) I don't even know what is my favorite song from the musical!!! They are all so good!!!  I'll just mention a few of my favorites.... ;)

"Think of me"
I love this song! It's so sweet and simple!! I love it when Michael plays it on the piano and Melissa and I can sing with him!!! So many good memories!!! :)  "Think of me, please say you'll think of me, whatever else you choose to do, there will never be a day when I won't think of you!!!"

"Notes/Prima Donna"
I like the beginning, when everyone is confused about who is writing all the notes!!! (Firmin "...and what is it that we're meant to have wrote...  written."  But the best part of this song is when Prima Donna starts. It's such a flowing melody, and the way the parts are written on top of each other is just ingenious!!!

"All I Ask Of You"
This song speaks for itself... just go listen to it! :)

"Masquerade"
The coolest part in this song is in the middle when the orchestra has a part. It's like the Sibelius Violin concerto 1st movement!!! So amazing!

"Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again"
This is the most heartbreaking song in the musical!!! I could never sing this in the musical without crying!! I can hardly listen to it without crying!!!!

Well, that's all for now! I could say a lot more, but I'm tired and I should be getting off the computer now!!! :) I hope you enjoy!!!

And I'll leave you with the wonderful Entr'act!!!

Faithful One

So despite what I said this morning, I'm not doing the other post, that one will just have to wait. I am (as I write this) sitting in the music library supposedly doing Chemistry... anyway, I am listening to a song that has proven to be very encouraging to me. Here it is:

It's called Faithful One and it is sung by Selah on their duets album. I am not sure if I ever listened to it before two weeks ago. I had my iPod on shuffle and this song played and it was such a good song for me at the time, it brought me back to what Jesus did for me, and how no matter what happens in life He is always there and will be there for ever!!!! How amazing!!!! So many times we become so bogged down with life and trivial things we lose sight of what really matters and that is our relationship with God. This song just helped me realize that again in the past couple weeks. (and, of course, you can't forget the amazing string part in the middle!! It's always fun to be reminded why you love playing violin!! :)) "and I will worship Him, my faithful one!" :)

When We're Together!

Today is Sunday, and I know I never write posts on Sunday, but this is so worth it! :) The whole story starts with the eighth PG13 movie I ever saw. Courageous. It was amazing! I cried the whole time, but what else is new? ;) I fell in love with the song 'When We're Together' after we watched the movie and I listened to it constantly for a while. Then I stopped doing that, and just listened to it randomly. I danced around the schoolroom with my nieces and sister to it once!! It was a ton of fun!!!!! I love this song, it makes me smile, and dance, and sing!!! :) I hope you enjoy it even a fraction of what I do!!! :)

Dreams

Everyone has a dream, we learned this in Tangled. :) But of course everyone's dreams are different. My dream is very special, it has some of these things in it:

Playing/teaching violin

Living in Colorado

Maybe getting married???

Well, that's all for today!!! :) Have a great week! (despite all this rain!!)

Time To Say Goodbye!

No, I'm not leaving. It's the name of the song I'm going to share with you today!!! :)  The first time I heard it was from when Paul Potts sang it on Britains Got Talent.  Someone recommended the video to us and we watched it. I remember being so amazed with his voice and thinking that the song was just beautiful! My brother downloaded the sheet music and learned it on piano and sang it.  It's such a wonderful song!!! I also like listening to Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman singing it!!! I can't decide which version I like better, they're both so good! So I'm going to share them both with you today, and you can pick which one you like better!!! :)

Go the Distance

This week I've been a little remiss with my blog posts!!! I'm so sorry! I've been busy!
Anyway, today I'm going to share with you a song called "Go the Distance" from the Disney movie Hercules.  While I've never seen the movie, I love this song from the soundtrack, especially when it's sung by this acapella group!!! It's so cool!!!! Anyway I hope you give it a listen and I hope you love it!!! (oh and I have no idea what is up with the picture on this video, but it's the only one that I can find... :) )

57 Seconds of Wonderfulness

Today I was going to tell you what book I'm reading, but it's the same book as last week so, you'll just have to read that post again.  However, I have something to share with you.  It's the main title from Princess Diaries  (not a movie I recommend, but the soundtrack it good...). It's kind of like the Ever After main titles in that it starts off quiet and then drifts into a very passionate, epic part and then fades out again! I love both of those main titles, and I just don't know which one is my favorite. :) I hope you enjoy them both just as much (if not more) than I do!!!!! It's so beautiful and the only problem with it is that it's only 57 seconds long!!! I listened to it many, many times last night!!!! :) Have a great weekend!!!

A Soundtrack

Today I'm going to share with you a song from a beautiful soundtrack:

It's the Main Titles from Ever After! This song is so beautiful!!!!! It starts off so slow and one wonders where it's going to go, and then the violins come in and it goes into that epic melody line!! I love the whole song, it's so beautiful!!!!! Michael reminded me of it's existence last night when we were playing Lord of the Rings Risk, because we've listened to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack so much in the past few weeks, we decided to find something else. (Oh, and of course I won the game! :)) It's a very wonderful thing to, when you haven't listened to something in over a year, listen to it again and find it as good, if not better than you remember it! That is what happened to me with this song! I remember it being pretty, but I didn't remember it being so epic!  I really hope you listen to it, and you enjoy it!! I hope you have a great weekend!!!!

A Song

Today I'm going to share with you a song. I love the Piano Guys so much, and I listen to them all the time. Every so often my favorite song of their's changes. Right now my favorite is "Moonlight". I didn't used to like this one,  I thought it was ok, but it wasn't spectacular or anything like that. However, when I listened to it again the other day I thought it was so good! I love Beethoven, and what they did with his sonata is just amazing! My favorite part is when the music dies away he's running and then the music comes back!!!  Anyway, you should give it a listen and I hope you like it!!!!!

More Christmas Music!

Christmas is right around the corner!!! Everyone is so excited!!! My mom took us to the mall today and we went shopping!! It took forever, but it was mostly enjoyable. (I don't really like shopping very much...) As far as I know, some people bought gifts, so it was a successful shopping trip!

Anyway, the Christmas song that I'm going to share with you today is one that my wonderful brother showed me last year. It's on one of the Christmas CD's that we just have here at home, but we never actually listen to the whole CD. However this song was hidden and we had to discover it! It's called "A Strange Way To Save The World" and it's sung by 4Him. I really hope you enjoy it as much as we do!!!
